Vaginal discharge begins before a few months when a girl gets in age to menstruate. A woman’s body undergoes various changes during this time. Vaginal discharge is a liquid-type substance that can be both heavy and light. It is a whitish fluid discharge produced from the liquids released from the uterus, cervix, and vagina. The consistency of vaginal discharge can be different in every woman.

What is healthy Vaginal discharge?

The presence of small glands in the vagina and cervix allows the secretion of the fluid, that comes out of our vagina day-to-day in the form of Vaginal discharge. Vaginal discharge helps to maintain balance in the vagina by removing old cells and making way for the production of new cells. This helps in the cleansing of the reproductive tract and also keeps the vagina healthy.

Generally, vaginal discharge appears to be a clear or white liquid in color, which has a slight odor of its own. It does have a strong smell or fragrance. And due to the release of vaginal discharge, we can also see the discolorment or yellowish appearance inside our underwear. It is common in every woman, and there is nothing to worry about vaginal discharge until you find it something unusual.

When to worry about Vaginal discharge?

Having vaginal discharge is very normal until you begin to notice certain changes in the odor or color of the discharge. If you experience any kind of difference or irregularity in consistency, that can be a sign of infection. And if you feel that your vaginal discharge is a different color other than white like yellow, gray, green, pink, red, or brown, then you must visit a doctor to know about the infection.

Usually, the vaginal discharge does not have any kind of smell but it can be a matter of worry if it smells like fish or yeast. These changes in vaginal discharge can be problematic if not consulted to a doctor on time.

You should immediately contact a doctor when you feel red clots with vaginal discharge or begin to feel tired or weak. Abnormality in vaginal discharge can also cause vaginal infection around the vaginal area. You can also get soreness, swelling, and rashed near the area of the vagina which can be painful at one point in time. It may also cause trouble while you get intimate with someone.

Therefore, it is important to look after the health of your vaginal discharge. If you keep ignoring them, then it can throw you in trouble.
