Do we ever realize how frequently we use the term ‘headache’? Every day we can find ourselves using this term without knowing its impact on our health. Even young kids sometimes say that they have a headache. No one sees headaches as a severe issue. We find it very common that we use domestic ways as a remedy. We do not understand the severity of recurring headaches. Headaches are of different types that can attack your body at any time. They can be tension headaches, migraine headaches, sinus headaches, chronic daily headaches, and so on. Headaches are not as common as the way we think of them to be.
What is Migraine?
Migraine is a type of headache that occurs in several stages. The person suffering from migraine can feel heavy pounding and throbbing pain in their head. Initially, you will feel light headaches but they can increase with time. The proper cause of how migraine occurs is not known yet. But according to a few researchers, they can occur when you find any imbalance in chemicals and hormones like serotonin and estrogen. They both help in regulating pain, and any changes in their level can cause triggers inside our heads. Serotonin is also important for transmission between nerve cells and any changes in the level of serotonin can lead to the contraction of blood vessels. This narrowing of blood vessels can trigger pain in the head.
The pain of migraine usually remains for 3 to 4 hours but can get severe in people who suffer immensely or in the later stage of migraine. For people who are in the later stage of migraine, their pain can last for 3 days.
Migraine is common in people and can affect people of all ages. According to “The American Migraine Foundation” more than 38 million Americans suffer from migraines. Migraine occurs in four stages- Prodrome, Aura, Attack, and Post-drome. Every stage has its symptoms that can affect people with migraine. Migraine pain can begin from one place and can cover all areas of your head. They can get normal to worse if not taken proper precautions beforehand.
